I'm Wilmar van Moorsel, born in 1985. At the age of 1, I started my HAVO (Higher General Continued Education) , where I had to quit after 2 years because of dyslexia. Via the MAVO and MBO Mechanical Engineering in Hoorn, I went on to study Engineering, Design, and Innovation (Mechanical Engineering) in Amsterdam.
In 2010 I got my bachelor's degree and started as a mechanical engineer at an engineering firm in Amsterdam, which focuses on the larger OEMs in the Netherlands. Through this agency, I helped customers with a new or a renewed product to develop and market, where the safeguarding of product families, cost savings and delivery time reduction were important points of attention.
At the beginning of 2016, I thought it was time for a fresh start and made the switch to Hektec, to set up the still young Mechanical Engineering branch, to give it direction and to lift it to a higher level. Nowadays I am involved in equipment development, such as piling rigs, drilling rigs, spud pontoons, jack-up pontoons, but also smaller equipment such as anchor tractors and equators. In addition, I manage the list of tasks and planning for the Mechanical Engineering department and I check stability calculations for (foundation) machines on floating equipment.
